As a leading manufacturer of industrial compressors, pumps, bypass valves, and accessories, Corken specializes in custom compressor packaging and pump skids designed for liquefied gas transfer, liquid transfer, air boosting, and vapor recovery applications within the process gas, energy, and transport industries.

Summary/Objective

Corken is currently looking for a specialized Mechanical Engineer . This position will start his/her career in the design phase of a new product launch for IDEX interacting with Design Engineer(s) on both the mechanical and electrical side of product design to become the subject matter expect (SME) on the product family. Upon launch of new design the mechanical engineer will transition into a sustaining / product engineering role for the new product family; working closely on the manufacturing / quality side of the product but also as the SME for technical guidance on new designs.

Essential Functions

Partner with Design Engineers on new products and redesign/modify existing components and products

Manage project schedules working with marketing, manufacturing and procurement to launch products

Develops advanced manufacturing processes and assigns strategic investigations to support long range manufacturing development

Follow IDEX New Product Development (NPD) Milestone process as needed

Support (technical and engineering) marketing, field service, sales and customers regarding technical information and engineering problems

Investigate/create engineering change requests to improve product, correct errors, facilitate production, and reduce cost (RCCM Root Cause / Counter Measure)

First Article Acceptance inspections to specifications and drawing dimensions

Approves new manufacturing processes and supplier’s capability using statistical methods (Cpk)

Supports source savings initiatives to reduce material costs across product lines while performing cost/benefit analysis to proposed change as needed

Capability analysis for both internal and external process involved with NPD

Responsible for Verification / Validation of new product

Interface with regulatory agencies to gain appropriate approvals on new product family

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company

Leads PFMEA’s for new or derivative product designs

Prepares routings for parts to reflect modifications of current manufacturing methods

Learns basic working / troubleshooting knowledge of product software and firmware and acts as the initial consultee when questions arise regarding either subject

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

5+ yrs. experience in design and/or manufacturing environment

Working knowledge of GD&T methodology

Design For Manufacturability and Lean experience

Previous experience in sheet forming, pipe/tube bending, annealing and vacuum brazing

Previous experience in TIG and Orbital Welding and Soldering in Sensor production

Experience in equipment selection and validation (i.e. TIG Welding, Stainless Steel Welding Lathe, Orbital Weld Heads, Vacuum Furnace Brazing, Electro Mechanical Assemblies like Coil Winding and Assembly Process)

Experience in designing, selection and procurement of tooling, Jigs, fixtures and special test equipment

Preferred Education and Experience

Design experience with electromechanical devices

ProE/Creo/Solidworks CAD & FEA experience

Six Sigma GreenBelt / BlackBelt certification (or equivalent experience)

Experience with ERP systems

Experience working with ISO 9001 or QMS systems

5+ yrs. experience in Manufacturing industry of Electromechanical Sensors

Work Environment

Exposure to manufacturing environment. Noise level may vary from moderate office environment to noisy/loud in the plant area. Proper use of safety equipment such as steel-toed shoes, goggles, safety glasses, gloves, apron and face shield must be observed.

Travel

Initial 1-2 years will be spent traveling between IDEX facilities in the following areas: Colorado, Oklahoma, Florida and potentially India (75% travel)

After year 2 up to 25% Domestic and International travel per year
