Supports a variety of Oracle-specific solutions including, but not limited to Oracle 10g/11g database projects. Role will also be heavy in configuring secure Oracle backup solutions and implementing Oracle Real Application Cluster and DataGuard (standby) systems in a Unix environment.
Applies experience and advanced technical knowledge applicable to installing and configuring Oracle 10g and 11g in development, test, production and disaster recovery environments in single or multi-tiered deployments in a Unix environment. Performs database tuning and administrative functions for multiple applications within (Development, Test, Production, and Disaster Recovery) environments. Performs Oracle installs, upgrades, patching and other administrative functions. Fluent understanding of Oracle RDBMS engine, including configuration and internal Oracle components. Performs installation for Oracle database environments in highly available deployments and in disaster recovery environments. Knowledge of Oracle RMAN and Flashback technologies, including integration to third party hot backup agents that integrate with RMAN. Properly recommends disk space, RAM and CPU capacities related to sizing an Oracle environment with strong Oracle disk layout experience. Knowledge with Oracle advanced database security options (VPD, Label Security, Advanced Security) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementations.
Contracts are internal and external. May act as a key technical point of contact for assigned activities. Contributes to the preparation of management/technical reports or contractual documents.
Established policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments, but allow considerable discretion to select the most appropriate approach or to recommend new approaches. Assignments typically require solutions to be derived by interpreting and extrapolating from situations faced in the past. Provides recommendations to improve work processes.
Provides guidance to lower-level technical staff on how to solve difficult technical issues. Resolves all but unique technical problems without the intervention of management or a more experienced technical specialist. Identifies and informs management of problems that require their attention. Often develops and recommends techniques to address problem situations.

QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify for this position at the FV-I (GS/FG-13) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-H (GS/FG 10-12) level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Specialized experience may include but is not limited to: demonstrated accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques; performing Oracle installs, upgrades, patching and other administrative functions; experience planning, coordinating, scheduling and tracking security mitigation activities to completion; experience developing and tracking plans of action and milestones associated with system audit findings; experience coordinating and managing IT projects; i.e., UNIX System Administration support, system balancing and tuning, software installation, system security, recovery protection, and system operations support.
