Join a team where engineering really matters! Boeing Global Services (BGS) C-17 is seeking an Avionics Software Systems Engineering Manager level - K for exciting opportunities with the C-17 Globemaster flight and ground systems in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Members of the C-17 Avionics & Flight controls (AVFC) team develop and test associated systems in a fast paced Agile engineering environment. Successful candidates will research and integrate new technologies that support the world’s finest airlift aircraft. Candidates will have the opportunity to work with Air Force customers using the latest engineering techniques to design and test C-17 aircraft sensors, controls, communications, avionics, and flight systems.

This is a first line manager position in the Boeing Global Services Modification Engineering Software organization. Significant development focus is on C-17 Avionics & Flight Controls (AVFC) engineering to execute sustainment and upgrade contract work. This position reports to the senior manager of Modification Engineering Software organization.
Direct, delegate, and ensure development of real time safety critical software on time and within budget.
Lead a team in execution of multiple, concurrent projects and sustainment activities in the organization.
Obtain extensive knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various engineering departments/disciplines, the interaction between departments/disciplines, and how their products/processes affect one another in order to drive successful outcomes of the projects.
Interface with various customers and suppliers in the course of executing contract work.
Assigns authority and responsibilities to employees to execute plan.
Reviews plan's execution, makes appropriate adjustments, and resolves issues.
Monitors appropriate metrics to ensure performance to plan.
Provides technical oversight and leadership to ensure performance and contract requirements are met.
Forecasts resource needs, obtains, schedules and manages personnel, facilities, services, equipment and tools to meet project and daily operating requirements.
Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities.
Provides on-going developmental feedback.
Recognizes contributions of individuals and teams to improve employee satisfaction and retain a skilled and motivated workforce.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Experience leading engineering teams.
Experience with avionics systems and aerospace systems.
3 or more years of experience in embedded real-time software development. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Possesses skills and experience in developing project or operational plans aligned to department's objectives, and executes plans to ensure business, technical, and customer requirements are achieved.
Experience in avionics systems development, real-time software development and test for airborne systems.
Knowledge of Agile methods/concepts and will adapt and optimize application of Agile concepts on projects within the organization.
Extensive and specialized ability to identify and resolve project and technical related issues and provide solutions and/or recommendations to ensure the successful completion of the project. Typical Education/Experience:
Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Previous avionics technical management experience preferred.
